He's waving, fellow. Waving. Not engaging in a Nazi salute, as you imply. He's waving, much like George W, that hero of yesteryear, once did. (At least Obama is not embracing Angela Merkel in a sudden, sneak-up-from-behind bear hug, as W did.) Find fault with everything the man does, why don't you? You expose your own pettiness -- and, unfortunately, end up trivializing much more significant beefs you have with Obama -- when you give the man grief for waving at crowds.
And he's waving with his left hand. Perhaps on purpose, so there wouldn't be any pictures with an extended right arm (which was the original Nazi salute).
I am not sure you have comedic license wrt Obama, since you've pretty well positioned yourself against the man.
I think you need to reconcile yourself, somehow, to the good aspects of Obama within his protestant, and sometimes erroneus, blief system. You keep invoking relativism and nihilsm but I don't see that in Obama. I see a belief system that is sadly mistaken on the beginning of life (birth), but impressively devoted to the sacredness of life once recognized. It appears to be a structured, not fluid belief system.
But I am also hoping that someone like Michael Steel or Bobby Jindal, or SOMEONE re-energize the conservative opposition for a more fiscally prudent, just-war conservative, economically libertarian, and pro-life response to the issues of the day and the mistakes of the treacherous Bush/Cheney conservative pretenders.
But once that leader emerges, he or she can waive however he or she wants to to the crowd and Austria and I'll defend them against anyone who claims that an open-palm waive ought to be censored. Actually we should defend that leader against any of the minor comedic slings and arrows of the liberal, comedic, left. You know the types - the Saturday Night Live/Daily Show lefty subterfuge.
You should surprise everyone for a simple moment and not be so predictable. I knew when clicking on "comments" that you, or someone of your persuasion, would be lurking and waiting to get in his two cents. To the contrary, sir, you've actually trivialized yourself with the same-old strategy - as if anyone who reads this blog didn't expect it. At the least, Father Longnecker can find some humor in the tragic circumstances we find ourselves in. Sir, whenever you take the stance to defend all human life, black, white, born and unborn, then you too can take an instant to find comic relief.
Daddy, you were confident you could find a certain sort of response from me. Guess what? The same can be true for most of the peoeple who comment on Fr. L's blog -- most of them are predictably conservative; some of them (though not all) seem to despise or fear what Vatican II brought about in the church; some of them (though not all) can't imagine a context in which a Democratic officeholder could do anything good, other than resign.
For the record, I am 100% prolife: for the unborn, for the born; for the poor and the rich and the middle-income folks; for the young and the old; for those who have been sentenced to death and await execution; for those who are in a war zone that a former president of the United States choose to bombard with his "shock and awe [and bombs]" strategy in an elective war; for the child who gets hits by a stray bullet from the gun of someone whose gun-ownerhsip rights (and cop-killer- bullet ownership rights!) the NRA championed in a state legislature. Yes, I'm prolife across the board. Happy to claim that label. And I'm fine with you thinking of me as a predictable commenter. I'll expect a conservative response the next time I read your remarks. And although perhaps you will suprpise me or I'll surprise you -- yes, both each of us assuredly does have a point of view. Yes.
(By the way, did you notice that in my original comment, I mentioned that Father might just want to save his griping for "more significant beefs you have with Obama"? What did you think I was referring to there, if not pro-life causes?)
If Fr. L says it was a joke, it was a joke. But I was born during the War, I've studied it a lot since I was a kid and have about 250 books and documentaries about it. And I'll tell you this: Obama's campaign rallies remind me of nothing so much as Hitler's

Uhh. It was a joke.

Oh Father shame on you. You have dared to criticize the ONE. For your penance, you will have to listen to the Barry mix on Queen Elizabeth's new ipod.
(I suspect Gorgasai may be right about the left hand thing.)
Hitlamobama - well I can see the parallels with the murder of millions of innocent ones.
Steve, lighten up. You're rude to the good Father.

Totally off-subject, Fr...
I'm ignorant. Who's the priest pictured in the b/w in your profile?

Apologies for the lousy editing in my last message.
The photo has been reversed.
It is his right hand.
