St Mary's Training Video

Fr. Newman's education department at St Mary's has just issued this training video for newcomers to the parish who want to learn how to fit in at the 11:00 Solemn Mass.

I read a comment once that Charismatic type worship is in fact not worship at all. It is self indulgence.

The true worship of Almighty God is shown in the Book of Revelation and the closest we come to this on earth is - a Solemn High Mass!

Just read the descriptions in the Book of Revelation and see how incredibly close a parrallel it is to a High Mass. The incense, the angels around the altar, the Lamb on the altar, the heavenly voices singing, the Sanctus, the beauty - all are figured in a High Mass.

We really should realise how privliged we are to be able to be present at Mass.

Let those who want to "rock" and jump to modern shallow pop style music keep their so-called "worship" to themselves - for me I'll approach the throne of Heaven offering the Blood of the Lamb at a beautiful High Mass.

I'll remember to do a jig next time I'm at the 11am solemn mass. I'll walk out in the aisle during the procession and do a cart wheel, then everyone will know I'm sincere about my worship of God.

Thanks. I've been glared at for clapping on the downbeat during the Solemn Mass.

It's a good thing I never attend the Solemn Mass at 11, I fear I wouldn't fit in very well. I'll stick with Masses where I'm not required to have any rhythm. Can I offer up our Folk Song group from the 9:15 Mass to your church to "enhance" the Solemn Mass? I won't be sad in the least if you decide you don't want to give them back.

Do these techniques also work for the Latin mass? (after adding a toga, of course)--Timothy

That looks like my old Pentecostal church, it is and that's me in the back running over the fat lady and back flipping down the isle.
