Very nice, Father! And, to these anti-religionist folks, I would also say there is scripture that supports "religion"...it's in James, where the scripture contrasts true versus empty religion. The dichotomy between spirituality and religion is a false one, but I think some who tout this mantra really mean the dichotomy between empty and true religion, and just haven't found the right words to articulate the matter correctly.
ReplyDeleteYou should put that on a poster Father, with a nice background and your name and today's date underneath it.

ReplyDeleteI, like an usurp'd town, to another due,
Labour to admit you, but O, to no end. (John Donne)
All you need to know about "religion" is the following:
ReplyDeleteThe people who conspired against Jesus, ignored their own legal standards to convict Him in a kangaroo court, had Peter and John flogged for no legitimate reason (except to intimidate them) and stoned Stephen, to a man, were respected members of the first-century Judean religious establishment.
Think about that. Think about is seriously.
